Tansley Three Circuits Prayer

Tansley Prayer

In September 2014 the three circuits of Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales and Erewash Valley will merge. Please join us in this prayer:

Gracious God

We remember how those who followed Jesus Christ, your Son, left behind the security of what they had known to go with Him.
As members of the Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales and Erewash Valley Circuits, we pray for your guidance as we support each other to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in our local communities.
We pray especially for all those who have the responsibility of discerning your will for the mission and life of the future Circuit.
Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us, bless us and equip us.
We pray as we undertake this journey of faith, in Jesus name.

Your Words

God’s words are silent

they reach us in the thoughts of our hearts,
in the love of friends,
in the world You gave us
and its seasons.
In our prayers.

Psalm 25

A Prayer for Guidance, Pardon and Protection

Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul
O my God, I trust in thee:
let me not be ashamed
let not mine enemies triumph over me
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed:
let them be ashamed which transgress without cause
Show me thy ways, O Lord;
teach me thy paths

The Knots Prayer

Thank You Lord God for the Opportunity of Worship

Thank you Lord God for the opportunity of worship,

for the freedom to be amongst your family
meeting together in your house,
and in the warmth of your embrace
Thank you that in worship we can put aside,
the uncertainties of this world and rest
upon the certainties of the Kingdom,
for your promises are not changeable
as those of a politician might be,
but immovable and eternal
Thank you that we can bring to your feet
all the hurts and fears that trouble us,
and leave them there,
knowing that your strength and assurance
are all that we require
Thank you that as we draw near in worship,
we are transported
from a world of concerns and fears,
to a place where we can be at peace in your presence,
find healing, wholeness and refreshment.

Thank you Lord God for the opportunity of worship

If you would like to worship with us, either during a Sunday Service or during one of our other weekly worship sessions, please do come along. All are always welcome (including young children). A full list of times we meet can be found here

Prayers of Praise

If my lips could sing as many songs as there are waves in the sea

If my tongue could sing as many hymns as there are ocean billows

If my mouth filled the whole firmament with praise

If my face shone like the sun and moon together

If my hands were to hover in the sky like powerful eagles

And my feet ran across mountains as swiftly as the deer

All that would not be enough to pay you fitting tribute

O Lord my God

Jewish prayer

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you’ve done for us. We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love

We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side

We thank you for our successes, which satisfy and delight us — but also for the disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone

Above all, we thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ — for the truth of his Word and the example of his life

We thank you for his dying, through which he overcame death — and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your Kingdom

Father, may we — at all times and in all places — give thanks to you in all things. Amen

Book of Common Prayer

Long warm days…
The pace of life slows…
A time for picnics and rest in the shade…

help me to rest a while in the cooling shade of your presence
Slow down my restless heart and fill me with gentle compassion for all your people. Amen

A Beautiful Prayer

I asked God to take away my habit,

God said, No

It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole
God said, No
Spirit is whole, body is only temporary
I asked God to grant me patience
God said, No
Patience is a by-product of tribulations;
It isn't granted, it is learned
I asked God to give me happiness
God said, No
I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you
I asked God to spare me pain
God said, No
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me
I asked God to make my spirit grow
God said, No
You must grow on your own!
but I will prune you to make you fruitful
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life
God said, No
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things
I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me
God said…Ahhhh, finally you have the idea
